Whether you’re hiking, taking a cable car, or exploring the cultural sites, Xishan Forest Park promises a memorable and enriching experience. Plan your visit to this stunning destination and immerse yourself in the natural and historical wonders of Kunming.

Of course, as a long-time resident of Kunming, Xishan Park is more than just a tourist destination—it’s a cherished spot for relaxation, especially on weekends. It’s a popular retreat where families, young people, and even the elderly come to unwind after a busy week. The hike up Xishan is relatively easy, whether you choose to stroll along the paved road or take one of the well-maintained paths. A leisurely walk from the base to the Longmen Scenic Area entrance typically takes around one to two hours.

When you stand at Longmen and gaze out at the distant Dianchi Lake, you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Dianchi Lake, making the hike well worth the effort. For those who prefer a quicker ascent, a cable car from Haigeng Park offers spectacular views of both the lake and Kunming. However, I highly recommend hiking up. The cool breeze and breathtaking vistas of Dianchi Lake from the summit make it a rewarding experience, perfectly blending exercise with scenic beauty.
